After living in Estonia for more than a decade, I’ve seen the country change in many ways. Some changes have made life even better, while others have made moving here more challenging than it used to be.

Almost every government service can be accessed online, bureaucracy is minimal, and everyday tasks—from signing documents to filing taxes—can usually be completed in minutes. This digital-first approach remains one of Estonia’s biggest advantages.

The country is also incredibly safe, clean, and easy to navigate. Tallinn offers a high quality of life, reliable public transport, fast internet, and easy access to forests, beaches, and nature. If you enjoy a quieter lifestyle rather than living in a crowded megacity, Estonia has a lot to offer.

English is widely spoken, especially among younger people and in the technology sector, making it easier for many newcomers to settle in.

The Challenges

Life in Estonia isn’t perfect, and it’s important to know that before making the move.

On the other hand, Estonia may not be the best fit if your main goal is to maximise income in a traditional profession, or if you expect a large, vibrant city with endless entertainment and year-round warm weather.

So, Is Estonia Still Worth Moving To?

I believe it is.

Not because Estonia is perfect, but because it offers something increasingly rare: a country where things work.

Life in Estonia isn’t about luxury or excitement every single day. It’s about safety, trust, digital convenience, clean cities, and a quality of life that many people only begin to appreciate after living here for a while.

Like anywhere else, Estonia has its challenges. The cost of living has increased, the job market is more competitive than before, and adapting to the climate takes time. But for the right person, those trade-offs are worth it.
