Since the introduction of the new digital Entry-Exit System, passport stamps are no longer used to track entries and exits. Because of this, eligible travellers who want to use their visa-free stay after a D-visa or residence permit expires need to register their entry records with the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA).

The process is straightforward.

Once your visa or residence permit expires, book an appointment with PPA for *”Entry Record Registration”* (Riiki Sisenemise Andmete Registreerimine).

Many people worry that they must visit PPA on the exact day their visa expires. Fortunately, that is not necessary.

For example, if your visa expires on June 30, you can attend your appointment a few days later. Your visa-free stay can still be counted from July 1, ensuring your days are calculated correctly.

This option is available to citizens of countries that have a visa-free travel agreement with the Schengen Area, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Brazil, Argentina, and several others.

The most important thing is not to ignore the process. Registering your entry records helps ensure that your stay remains legal and properly documented.
